Find a Recognized Repair Facility

The repair shops listed on this page are RECOGNIZED REPAIR FACILITIES. Of course, You may always have your vehicle repaired at a facility of your choice, including Non-Recognized Repair Facilities, or you may make the repairs yourself. Either type may be capable of meeting your repair needs; however, the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) recommends that you have your repairs performed at a Recognized Repair Facility.

RECOGNIZED REPAIR FACILITIES employ a minimum number of certified, professional automotive technicians who have successfully completed required training programs devoted specifically to the repair of emissions problems. Most importantly, only repairs performed at a Recognized Repair Facility are eligible to be applied towards a cost waiver. TRANS 131.02(39) includes franchised NEW car dealerships as recognized repair facilities.

This listing is not a recommendation from the WIVIP, it is simply a consumer guide in locating a repair facility. You will need to screen the repair facility to ensure can they repair your particular vehicle.

How to Search

First, be sure to select the correct tile at the top of the search page. Options include Inspection Facilities, Recognized Repair Facilities, Non-Recognized Repair Facilities, and Technical Assistance Centers (TACs). Each tile renders a different result for only the selected facility type.

The default display shows the nearest twenty (20) facilities in order of distance from your current location (assuming you consent to allow that). It only shows facilities open on the current date (shown in the "Visit Date" dropdown). The list may be further filtered or searched using the icons on each column. By default, the address link for each Facility will launch a new page with a map of the Facility location, where you can search for driving directions; you can also launch a phone call to the Facility you select by clicking on the telephone number link. (Note: this may require the installation of Microsoft-provided Phone Link software to work on your desktop computer).

You may refine your search by selecting a future Visit Date, then entering a specific address, a nearby City or your Zip Code to specify your preference for area. If your search doesn’t return any facilities, try a different entry for Visit Date, City or Zip. When you enter this on the first page, the address link for each facility will then launch a new page with driving locations from your entered location to the Facility (Note: the more specific your search, the more accurate the directions; for example, searching by Zip Code will create directions from the center of the Zip Code to the selected Facility).

The resulting map will show open facilities for the Visit Date selected; circles with a number in the center indicate a number of nearby facilities in a group; just click on the circle to zoom in and see details.

Once you locate the facility of your choice, you can click on the map marker to see the address information or look for the facility name in the list below the map.
